Behind the Scenes Tour at the Long Island Aquarium

Go behind-the-scenes to see firsthand what is involved in creating a hospitable environment for the aquariums aquatic residents and our visitors. Learn about the science behind all the systems and procedures necessary to keep the aquarium’s live animal exhibits up and running every day. You can even feed their clownfish!

There is a $5 fee per participant for this program, payable to the Aquarium. Registration is limited. This program is for adults, teens, and children age 10 and older.

Please note that, as mandated by the latest State Executive Order regarding COVID-19 safety precautions, our outdoor nature walks and programs will at all times follow stringent six-feet distancing separation protocols required by the Department of Health for the safety of our participants and environmental educators. We will provide masks and gloves for all attendees.

Outdoor Adventure Walks

Biologist and ranger Eric Powers knows the Preserve’s wildlife and landscape like the back of his hand after years of leading marvelous nature programs, including the popular Owl Prowl, Pond Exploration, and the fantastic Overnight Wilderness Survival courses. He was just named Long Island Sierra Club Environmentalist of the Year!

In 2021, Ranger Eric will lead visitors of all ages on monthly exploratory walks across the Preserve’s grounds. Each walk is unique. The Preserve will reveal itself throughout the seasons, and your expert guide will share a wealth of information about nature’s wonders.

Register at the Gatehouse and meet at Castle Gould’s Clock Tower. Face masks and social distancing are required.
